1 Timothy 2:12

12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Note: The word suffer here in the Greek means: I turn to, commit, entrust; I allow, yield, permit.  Properly, to turn over (transfer), i.e. Allow -- give leave (liberty, license), let, permit, suffer.


Revelation 2:20

20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

Note: God did not call any woman to be a Prophetess in the New Testament Church.   There simply is no such Office of Prophetess in the New Testament Church.   She, Jezebel, calleth herself a "prophetess".   The word sufferest here in the Greek means:   I allow, permit, let alone, leave.    Properly, Permit or leave alone -- commit, leave, let (alone), suffer.  Thus, the Church in or at Thyatira was permitting, allowing, letting a women (Jezebel) to teach and thus to seduce . . .

The word seduce here in the Greek means: To cause to wander, to wander.  Properly, I lead astray, deceive, cause to wander.   To go astray, get off-course; to deviate from the correct path (circuit, course), roaming into error, wandering; (passive) be misled.  This conveys the sin of roaming or turning from the Truth of the Christian faith. The "church" at Thyatira had within it a false teacher, a woman who called herself a prophetess.   Operating without a moral compass, and contrary to God's Holy Word, Jezebel exploited other aimless people – i.e. prompting them to also stray from God's circle of safety (sound Doctrine).
